Adult Novice Team 2022 Recruitment Info
The Marin Rowing Association Adult (master) Novice Team will be accepting new members this summer and autumn of 2022
This is a team for athletes with little to no experience in the rowing world. During these recruitment windows, the team will be switching partly to land-based training to accommodate curious newcomers with no experience as oarsmen or oarswomen.
The number of athletes admitted is still to be determined (based on the current team size), but I’d love to take as many athletes as possible who satisfy the eligibility criteria.
Standard practice days are Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Friday. Weekday times are 5:30-7:30 AM. Sundays are 7:00-9:20 AM. During peak season, I’ll often add Wednesdays. In addition to participating in the land sessions below, new athletes must observe a minimum of one water practice before joining.
The team runs year-round with the expectation that everyone will miss some time for the usual reasons (work, vacation, illness). Membership is paid quarterly, costing about $465. There is a one-time initiation fee of $300. Extra expenses beyond that relate to travel and racing.
SUMMER LAND DATES (5:30-7:30 AM):
Friday, July 29
Tuesday, August 1
Friday, August 5
Tuesday, August 9
Friday, August 12
These sessions are a $10 optional donation. All listed days are acceptable for first-day rowers. It may be possible to join later, depending on roster conditions. The next admit cycle is mid-November, with dates TBD
