LAUREL JOHNSON

U15/16/17 GIRLS ASSISTANT COACH & MASTER WOMEN’S ADVANCED LEVEL-B HEAD COACH

Before joining MRA in the fall of 2018, Laurel spent six years at the Chicago Rowing Foundation as the Lightweight Women's Head Coach and Assistant Coach to the Varsity Women and Novice Women's teams. In addition, she was the Head of the Adaptive Rowing Program and assisted with the Competitive Master’s Women's team. While at the Chicago Rowing Foundation, she coached crews to regional championships and numerous appearances at the Youth National Championships.

Before coaching at the Chicago Rowing Foundation, Laurel was recruited to cox for the University of Iowa Women's Rowing team. Laurel began her coxing career in 2009 with the Lincoln Park Juniors (currently the Chicago Rowing Foundation).

Laurel resides in Novato with her MRA-alumni husband, Justin, and pet cat, Jasper.
